Patrol 2 Wetdown Sunday August 7,2005 The Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol, Inc, held it's Wetdown for their new truck on August, 7th. The Patrol was happy to have Greenwich Selectwoman Penny Monahan, Greenwich Selectman Peter Crumbine and Mike Puterbaugh, Deputy Chief of the Greenwich Fire Department in attendance, as well as their brothers from Patrol 2 of the New York City Fire Patrol. Patrol 2 is a 2004 Pierce Enforcer with a Heavy Duty Rescue Body that is specially designed for the Patrol's operations. The Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol specializes in Fire Police and Salvage Operations during a fire, as well as assisting the Greenwich Police during large emergencies or events. Patrol 2 is equipped with high intensity lighting, salvage equipment, de-watering equipment, power generators in addition to fire and rescue equipment. The Cos Cob Fire Police was founded in 1927 and incorporated in 1931. The Patrol's first truck was a 1930 Broadway wagon which the company purchased for $750. The Patrol's second truck which was purchased in 1956 was a GMC with an Adam Black Patrol Wagon Body. It also became the very first non-red fire apparatus to serve the Cos Cob community and the town of Greenwich. The Patrol purchased it's third truck in 1984. The 1984 Ford/Saulsbury Heavy Rescue Body also took on a unique presence as the towns first yellow fire truck. The current Patrol was purchased by the town of Greenwich in October of 2004. As you can see, it's not every day a new truck comes into service. In the Patrol's 78 years of service, this is only it's forth truck. For more about the Patrol's past and current trucks, Click here.
